This just in… the kickoff dance for our Winter Dance Series will be at the WOW Hall on Saturday, November 21st from 7-10:00 pm! Then we’ll be hosting monthly dances at the Eugene Garden Club for December-April. Can’t wait to get you all warmed up this winter, so bring some friends!

Doors at 7:00. Live music and dancing from 7:30-10:00.

As the kickoff to our monthly winter dance series, we’re bringing the community together once again for an raucous night of old-time square dancing!
River Scheuerell (Olympia, WA) will be bringing River & the Rapids, an all-star lineup featuring Joe Ellingson, Patrick Lind, Suzanne Adkins, & Dale Adkins. And we’ll have Maggie Lind (Portland, OR) calling hot squares for us all night long!
If you missed our dances last winter, or didn’t catch us at the Cascadia Wildlands benefit at the Farmers Market last month, this is your chance to jump in while the tunes are hot!!
Old-time community square dancing is taught by the caller, so you don’t need any experience, special clothing, or even a partner! Our dances are intergenerational, welcoming to folks of all abilities, and feature gender-free calls. And, of course, our dances always feature live bands & callers laying down the groove.
Just show up ready to bust down with your community!
The next dances will be monthly at the Eugene Garden Club starting December 12th thru April!

In other news… We are losing our spot at Claim 52 for the winter! November 9th will be the last jam. Mud City’s open old-time jam will be looking for a new home! We’re looking for a pub or bar where there’s some foot traffic. Let us know if you have a lead on a great spot for us!

Mud City Old-Time Society is dedicated to supporting old-time music and dance in the Southern Willamette Valley. We are a progressive, inclusive community that sponsors concerts, workshops, jams and square dances open to people from any background and experience level. If you are interested in the power of participatory music and social dance, we invite you to come play and dance with us!
Music for Everyone
As a precursor to bluegrass, old-time string band music is acoustic and lively. We host concerts, workshops and a variety of jams that welcome new players just getting started, as well as more experienced players wanting to play more up to speed.

Our square dances always feature live bands as well as callers who teach everything you need to know on the spot. You don’t need any special clothes or even a partner—there will be plenty of fun folks to dance with. Check out our events to learn more!
